Question
When I open a datasheet or other download in PDF, there are corrupted characters in the file.
This is particularly noticeable when I print the document from the PDF. What’s wrong?
Answer
This should only be a problem for you if you are using Firefox as your Internet browser. Firefox versions 19 and 20 include a Mozilla PDF Viewer that functions as the default, overriding the Adobe viewer.
In these versions of Firefox, when you select Open from the Download dialog box, the file is opened in Mozilla’s PDF Viewer, which is known to have difficulty correctly rendering fonts.
If you select Download from the dialog, and save the file to your computer, you can then open it directly in Adobe and it will display and print correctly.
