Question

What software can I use for mechanical downloads?

Answer

Wavelength Electronics provides the following types of files for each product:

    1. SOLIDWORKS Drawing (SLDDRW)
      • These files provide convenient opening and copying, and include part models with dimensions.
    1. SOLIDWORKS Part (SLDPRT)
      • These files provide the view of the model without dimensions.
    2. IGS & STL
      • Useful for customers with access to those programs on their CNC machines or fabrication software.
    3.  PDF
      • The PDF provided is a copy of the SLDDRW file, but in PDF format.

These files are available on the Downloads & Design Tools tab of each product page, under the Mechanical/CAD Drawing header. For example, see the PLD12.5K-CH product page.

The following list of software can read .slddrw and .sldprt files:

SolidWorks® eDrawings®
AutoDesk Inventor® Creo Parametric™
Pro/ENGINEER® HiCAD
BricsCAD®

Wavelength Electronics utilizes SolidWorks for all mechanical drawings. SolidWorks can open all of the files provided. In addition to SolidWorks, there are programs such as SolidWorks Viewer and MiTek Sapphire Viewer that allow viewing of the drawings without having the full software package installed.

If you are still having difficulties opening the mechanical files, please contact Technical Support, and provide the file extension desired. For example, we can provide STEP files.
