Complete laser diode control in a small chassis mount package. The LDTC1020 includes both a Laser Diode Driver and a Temperature Controller. The Laser Diode Driver includes two low noise FL500s and drives up to 1 Amp of stable, safe current. The Temperature Controller is the ultra-stable WTC3243 and provides up to 2.2 Amps of bipolar current for either a thermoelectric or resistive heater. For less laser diode current, the LDTC0520 drives up to 500 mA.

Integrated controls make this a plug-and-play module. Add only a power supply, laser diode, thermoelectric and sensor, and heatsinking. All cable sets are included. Monitor signals are brought out on one cable. Onboard trimpots set current limits and operating setpoints. Alternately, you can switch to remote inputs for both laser driver current setpoint and temperature setpoint. Also onboard is an Enable/Disable switch for the laser diode current. An LED indicates status of the laser diode output current. Switches select Constant Current or Constant Power mode.

The LDTC1020 protects against brown outs and slowly ramps the current for maximum protection. The temperature controller has added default protection for when a D/A remote setpoint is lost- it automatically sets the temperature to control near ambient. Default is 25°C for a 10 kΩ thermistor (1 V).
