Your suggestion is good, also see the attached option for a current noise output filter. As you know intermittent connections can cause lasers to fail. For example, if a connection is lost, the voltage will drop, but the current can not change (drop) instantaneously so if the connection is then quickly reestablished, the increased voltage may cause a current increase and you are likely to have too much forward current through your laser, which can destroy it. If you change between constant power mode and constant current mode while the laser is powered up, you can also destroy the laser, for the same reason. One other note is when configuring a C type laser with the WLD, the leakage current will be 20 to 40mA, depending on the operational current. This will not matter as long as all of the wires are connected when the unit is powered up. |
