If you need your electronic prototypes fast, built accurately, and without costing you a fortune,
Wavelength can do it. We can assemble a board you've designed or develop a custom board for your
application. Simplify your purchasing - we can do the entire assembly our parts are used in -
not just the laser diode driver or temperature controller section.
Over the last few years, our frustration with high cost prototype runs, delivered at a snails
pace, with errors requiring long hours of troubleshooting led us to just do it ourselves.
What did we set up?
- Low cost stencil solutions
- A pick-and-place machine that can
- place 15mil pitch components - high yield on 0402 size parts
- be programmed from your gerber PNP files
- place >3500 components per hour
- A reflow oven with profiles to prevent tombstoning and minimize rework
- A production facility optimized for low volume / high mix work
- Quick turn-around time: 3 days after receipt of parts is typical
- Flexible attitude - If it's easier for us to buy the parts, we can do that, too
- Attention to detail - expect the boards to be built right the first time
What do we need from you?
- Spreadsheet of X & Y centers, reference designators, part numbers
- Stencil files
- BOM
- Component locator
- Parts on reel, cut tape or in tubes

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can Wavelength do lead-free assembly?
A: By the end of 2005 we'll be capable of complete lead-free assembly.
Q: Can you do double-sided boards?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I really give you the gerbers & parts early on a Tuesday and get the assembled boards on Friday?
A: This is a typical scenario for us. We know how important quick turn-around is. Our shop processes low volume orders and can respond quickly to most prototype orders.
Q: How do you ensure 100% accurate builds?
A: For surface mount parts, during programming, part alignment is checked by at least two people. We refer to online datasheets for polarity and will call if any ambiguity arises. Our pick-and-place machine measures resistance and capacitance on each component as it is placed to make sure the right value is being loaded. For plate-thru parts, we'll verify alignment with you before assembly begins. Our staff knows industry standard symbols and is committed to doing the job right the first time!
Q: If I want something special - like a heat sink glued to a part- can you do it?
A: We have several standard thermal epoxies and potting compounds and automated equipment to dispense them. Ask and we'll review your specific needs.
